Cuba is one of the first of the USSR's allies in the 20th Century before the 'Soviet Golden age'.
History
Edit
In 1898, the United States went to war with Spain, over Cuba's independence, and eventually won it, and reformed into the Republic of Cuba, which it remained an ally of the US until 1959, when the Cuban Revolutionaries, led by Fidel Castro, overthrew the Government in a Coup d'etat, establishing Cuba as a Communist state, an ally of the USSR.
In 1961, Castro permitted the USSR to install mid-range nuclear missiles in Cuba, ignoring the objections of the United States.
